The CMPS Corporate Scholars Program
(CSP) provides highly qualified CMPS students with
a combination of internships and scholarships related
to their fields of study, while offering employers
a cost-effective means of recruiting from a pool
of talented pre-screened students to fill internship
positions.
Corporate Scholars distinguish
themselves through their academic achievement and
their professional drive and aspirations. Students who are approved
by the Dean’s office and selected for employment
participate in some of the best and most exclusive
internship opportunities offered each summer. In
addition to professional guidance by a company mentor,
these positions expose students to unique technology;
require active participation in real projects and
products and fully envelope students into the workplace
environment.
Corporate Scholar positions are
truly professional in nature, providing employers
with result ending achievements and enhancing a student’s
overall educational experience. Preparation for graduation
is more than successful completion of required courses,
but successful application of knowledge to a professional
field and the professionalism required in the workplace.
Those who seek the best are those who seek Corporate
Scholars.
CSP is designed to assist employers in conducting targeted, efficient recruitment for summer internship opportunities while supporting the student intern through a merit-based scholarship. CSP will consist of the following components:
- A pre-screening process based on applications to the program.
- The awarding of $2,000 merit-based scholarship with internship opportunities.
- A private Dean’s Reception for students, employers and invited CMPS faculty and staff.
- An assigned mentor for each intern provided by the employer.
- A series of site visits by Program Director during the summer internships.
- A structure in which the internships will initially be completed during the summer semester, traditionally 10-12 weeks between June-August (40 hour weeks).
The College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences would like to thank the following employers for their participation in the summer 2009 Corporate Scholars Program and their commitment to enhancing academics.
