This project is aimed at providing an email service that functions without any single centralized system to protect the privacy and autonomy of the user. In order to accomplish this, a combination of a local server and the computing power of the Ethereum blockchain is used. By designing in this way, we ensure that our service will never go down so long as there are miners in the ecosystem. In order to make the transition as painless as possible for users, front-end email client software, Thunderbird, is used as an interface. Thunderbird was chosen because of its cross-compatibility between the operating systems we will be supporting, Windows 10 and Mac OS X. Other mail clients such as Microsoft Outlook should function properly with our service because we will be following the standard SMTP and POP3 protocols. As far as functionality is concerned, our service will provide the ability to send messages between users who are both using this service.
