Benefits of an Internship -Coaching -Gain work Experience -No experience required -Networking The Career Center -Resumes (Part: Objective, Education, Skills, Experience, Others) -Cover letters -Interviews (phone, person, fair) Places to find internships -Career Fair (Next one is in Spring semester (Mar)) -Terp Online -Academic departments -Career Center -5 F's: Friends, Family, Faculty, Fellow Students, Foundations Preparing for an interview -Research the company (Mission, Goal, New, Financial Statements, people, etc.) -Anticipate the question (Personality, Education, Experience questions) -Know your strength and weakness -Know what you wrote on your resume -Bring extra copies of your resume Dressing -One should wear a suit -Take a shower -Not too much perfume The interview -Eye contact -Body language/Sitting position (don't slouch, don't cross your arms or legs, knees together) -Firm handshake -Be punctual (EARLY) -Ask questions: about future projects, financials, further training, next step in the hiring process, etc. Other things to consider -Check the weather -Bring a pen and paper -Follow-up thank you notes should go out immediately -Once you accept, don’t rescind your offer!!
